Ibexa DXP v5.0.5: Future‑Ready Search with Elasticsearch 8 Support
Ibexa releases version 5.0.5 across its DXP platform suite: Headless, Experience, and Commerce editions. This release marks a key infrastructure milestone: full support for the latest Elasticsearch 8.x stack, providing our customers with a modern, secure, and future-proof search foundation for their digital experiences, alongside a series of other important updates that further enhance performance, stability, and long‑term maintainability across the Ibexa DXP 5.0.5 platform.
Support for newer Elasticsearch versions (8.x)
With v5.0.5, Ibexa upgrades the underlying PHP Elasticsearch client from the 7.x line to 8.19+. This change aligns Ibexa DXP with the current Elasticsearch ecosystem and unlocks access to the latest performance, stability, and security improvements offered in the 8.x series.
This is a technical, backward-incompatible upgrade on the client side. The new 8.x PHP client introduces changes in:
- Namespaces and API surface – classes and methods reorganized or renamed.
- Request/response handling – some request options and response structures changed.
- Configuration model – connection and authentication settings may need updates.
For implementation details, migration paths, and examples, please refer to the official Elasticsearch documentation:
While Ibexa DXP v5.0.5 introduces full support for Elasticsearch 8, we also maintain compatibility with Elasticsearch 7, ensuring business continuity for existing projects and giving development teams flexibility in when and how they upgrade.
Elasticsearch is a powerful, distributed, RESTful search and analytics engine at the core of the Elastic Stack, helping teams turn large volumes of data into real-time, actionable insights. It underpins Search, Observability, Security, and Generative AI use cases, enabling developers to build smarter apps, secure sensitive information, and optimize infrastructure. Trusted by many of the world's leading companies, including over 50% of the Fortune 500, Elasticsearch is widely recognized as a market-leading platform for search-powered solutions.
PostgreSQL 18 support
Ibexa DXP v5.0.5 officially adds support for PostgreSQL 18, aligning your digital experience stack with the latest advances in the PostgreSQL ecosystem. This ensures better longevity, security, and performance options for customers standardizing on PostgreSQL for mission‑critical workloads.
Redis 8+ and Valkey 9+ support
To give you more flexibility in how you operate caching and session storage, this release introduces support for Redis 8+ and Valkey 9+. Organizations can now choose between established Redis deployments or Valkey as an open, community‑driven alternative, without compromising on performance or stability.
OpenAPI support for Collaborative editing REST API
Ibexa DXP v5.0.5 also enhances the Collaborative editing REST API by exposing additional API Platform meta information for Collaboration controllers. This improvement makes it easier for developers to explore, document, and consume Collaboration endpoints via tools that rely on rich OpenAPI / API Platform metadata, accelerating integration and client generation workflows.
