silver.solutions is a service provider for B2B e-commerce solutions. Since 2000, the Berlin-based company has been developing powerful online platforms, B2B shops and integration solutions for companies from the technical trade and other industries. silver.solutions advises companies on their digital strategy and has realised more than 200 customer projects.

Bürkert Fluid Control Systems is one of the world's leading manufacturers of measuring, controlling and regulating systems for liquids and gases. Bürkert commissioned silver.solutions to implement a website using Ibexa. The ambition was to create a website that served 29 countries in 16 language versions. In addition to the website, the project included a comprehensive B2B shop with a number of additional functionalities and complex integrations.

The solution in detail

The new Bürkert website has a user-centric approach with a fresh, contemporary design. The design was implemented using cutting-edge responsive web technologies, which allow the content and design to work equally well on tablets and. Fork Unstable Media is responsible for the concept, design and implementation of the front-end.

The technical basis of the website is Ibexa. Its multi-language capabilities and flexible content engine mean that Ibexa is ideally suited for websites with a global reach. Bürkert's site is currently available in 16 languages. The extensive system of roles and rights that characterize the CSM perfectly maps the company structure which is made up of national divisions and regional branches. Editors from 27 countries are currently working on their specific content.

The new Bürkert website offers business customers in Germany, the UK, Spain and in the Netherlands the option of ordering online. More markets will be added gradually. The integrated B2B shop enables real-time access to SAP (via ESB). The product catalog, which is available online, contains more than 5,000 items. In addition, more than 300,000 products are available through the quick-order function. The online shop merges product data using flexible interfaces to the product information management system (PIM) and to the media asset management system (MAM).

A customer service area contains the return function (RMA). To achieve this, a complex, multi-stage process was implemented, using Ajax to request all RMA-relevant data from the SAP at runtime.

The online shop has an extensive search and a filtering function that scans hundreds of product features and gives customers with a relevant list of results.

To guarantee the performance of the platform, the provider uses clustering and load balancing. In addition, the service provider Akamai delivers media files (images, documents).
